By Union County Macaroni Kid October 31, 2023

Teacher workdays, no matter the occasion, can be a challenge. While we appreciate that many still have to work these days, you might find yourself looking to fill a few hours or the whole day with your kids. Here are 5 fun ways to spend the day:

1. Head to a Local Farm: We have some great farms with loads to keep kiddos busy within a 25-minute drive! Some of our favorites include:

2. Visit some Animals: With two zoos within a 2-hour drive, plus a bunch of local spots you can just go and see/pet/visit with animals, this is fun for kids of all ages

3. Bounce, Jump and Play: Need to get some work done while the kids let off steam? These trampoline places have WiFi and a safe place for adults to sit and work while kiddos get their wiggles out!

4. Get Outside: If you can step away from work, or you have the day to play yourself, we love taking advantage of smaller crowds at some of our favorite parks and outdoor destinations:

5. Let someone else be in charge: Sometimes, you just can't take the time away - and we get that. Here are a few ideas for when you can't:

  • Kid Swap ~ find a family with a similar situation and one family take all the kids in the morning and the other take them in the afternoon. Everyone gets at LEAST a half-day of work in!
  • Here are local places that typically have work-day camps:
    • Matthews Playhouse
    • InnerPeaks Climbing
    • FlourPower
    • Small Hands Big Art
    • IdeaLab Kids
    • CodeNinjas
    • Children's Theatre of Charlotte
    • Mission Grit
