The last several years have brought about significant changes in healthcare, and to address those needs, Atrium Health Levine Children’s has introduced a pediatric concierge medicine practice. I had heard of them for adults, but recently was introduced to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Perspective Pediatrics - a membership-based pediatric primary care practice; aka concierge pediatric medicine.
Atrium Health Levine Children’s Perspective Pediatrics is comprised of a dedicated team of three wonderful pediatricians: Drs. Amanda Lanier, Diep Nguyen (pronounced WEN) and David Pubantz. This practice offers an enhanced level of personalized care, availability and convenience.
“We have fewer patients per pediatrician, which means we have more time during the visits, less waiting and more streamlined coordination of care from our team,” said Dr. Lanier.
We got some answers from the team about how membership-based pediatric primary care works, what makes it different and what makes their team particularly special. Keep reading!
So, how does it work?
Families who are interested in joining the practice set up a consultation with our office. Following a “meet and greet” with our physicians, you will choose your pediatrician. However, our practice is committed to knowing all our families well, so you will interact with all our teammates during acute visits, after-hours and during virtual visits.
Once you are established as a patient, you will benefit from the following amenities:
- Direct access to your care team 24/7 - including after hours.
- Same-day or next-day appointments whenever possible.
- Secure-texting capacity with your care team
- A newsletter that includes current pediatric topics and trends
- Knowing that the team truly understands your family dynamic and needs - assisting whenever and wherever possible.
Your yearly membership is per child and is paid separately from office visits, which are billed through your insurance. And, because we know families come in all shapes and sizes, we also accommodate financially for families; with each child, the membership decreases.
Meet the Team:
Dr. Amanda Lanier
Dr. Lanier has lived in the SouthPark/South Charlotte area for over 20 years and loves how it’s central to everything. Her husband jokes that she likes to keep to a 5-mile radius for all of her needs. She loves to travel and exploring is a passion of hers. She loves matcha-green tea, the beach, prefers sit-ups to push-ups, loves sporting events of all types and since the pandemic, likes to binge-watch “old” shows (like Game of Thrones) with her family. Dr. Lanier entered her pediatric residency in 1998 and has practiced in Charlotte since 2001. She firmly believes that when you work with children, you work with the whole family, which is truly the catalyst for starting this practice 3 years ago.
Dr. David Pubantz
Dr. Pubantz is the “newest” addition to the Atrium Health Levine Children’s Perspective Pediatrics family, but he’s no stranger to pediatrics. He has been practicing pediatric medicine for 13 years, and also practices as a hospitalist at surrounding Atrium Health hospitals. Dr. Pubantz lives in Weddington, which suits his family’s desire to live in the small-community feel with wide open spaces - but loves that he is still close enough to Charlotte to enjoy sporting events and activities. He loves to spend time with his two boys and exploring as a family. They try to take a family trip to a new destination every year and you might find him hanging out in downtown Waxhaw when he’s not working.
Dr. Diep Nguyen
Dr. Nguyen, has been practicing pediatric medicine for 17 years and has lived in Charlotte for the past 13 years. Calling SouthPark home, she loves seeing how much the area has grown, and yet still remains a tight-knit community. Seeing families from the practice outside of the office - at the grocery or park - helps her get a glimpse into their family life and that brings her joy. Dr. Nguyen finds joy in everything from trying new restaurants to hanging with the family at the pool. She loves vegetables, coffee and traveling.
