Summer is just around the corner and every parent knows that the clock is ticking to register children for Summer Camps! Do you know a child who loves to sing, dance and act? Perhaps your child simply wants to experience something new in a fun and supportive environment? Whatever the case, Matthews Playhouse Summer Camp 2022 is the place to be this summer! With themed camps for ages 4 - 18 years old, your child can participate in full or half-day camp experiences during the months of June, July and August

With its 25-year track record of serving children in the community, Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts has proven itself to be one of the best places in the South Charlotte, Mecklenburg and Union County areas for Summer Camp fun and learning! Week of June 6-10 

Bluey (Half Day) - 9:00a-12:00p  ~ There are only 2 spaces left 
Ages 4-6. Come and play just like Bluey and Bingo! We’ll have a great time exploring our imaginations and learning how playing leads to being a great actor. 

 

Belle and Cinderella (Half Day) -  9:30a-12:30p
Rising Grades K-2nd. A tale as old as time meets the fairy godmother! We’ll practice our best princess skills as we act our favorite scenes from “Beauty and the Beast” and “Cinderella.” Filled with songs and dancing, your kids will love this camp filled with favorite characters.   


Encanto Jr. 1 (Half Day) - 1:00p-4:00p
Ages 4 - Rising 2nd Graders. We're taking a trip to Colombia and exploring the world of Encanto! Campers will bring Encanto to the stage by acting as the fantastical and magical Madrigal family and singing and dancing to songs like “We Don't Talk About Bruno”, “Surface Pressure” and “The Family Madrigal”.

Week of June 13-17

Encanto Jr. 2 (Half Day) - 9:00a-12:00p NOTHING LEFT FULL
Ages 4- Rising 2nd Graders. We're taking a trip to Colombia and exploring the world of Encanto! Campers will bring Encanto to the stage by acting as the fantastical and magical Madrigal family and singing and dancing to songs like “We Don't Talk About Bruno”, “Surface Pressure” and “The Family Madrigal”.


Lego Masters (Half Day) - 9:30a-12:30p
Rising 3rd-5th Graders. Are you a Lego Master? This fun camp will focus on creating a story to support what you build from those amazing bricks! Campers will work independently and in small groups to build, dream and create a unique presentation. They will hone their public speaking skills as they present their creations and the stories that go with them to family and friends. (Lego bricks will be provided but only the memories will be yours to keep.)


Dungeons and Dragons (Half Day) - 1:00p-4:00p
Rising 7th-12th Graders. Gather around heroes as we adventure into a world of mystery and fantasy! Inspired by the tabletop roleplaying game, during this camp we will create our own original stories & characters then bring them to life through collaboration and improvisation. At the end of the week we will share our adventures!


Week of June 20-24

Favorite Fairy Tales (Half Day) - 9:00a-12:00p  
Rising K-2nd Graders. This camp will be just right as we bring to life the world of fairy tales. Join us for a week of retelling the classic stories like “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” and “Little Red Riding Hood”. At the end of the week, we will share these stories from the stage with family and friends.


Harry Potter Acting (Half Day) - 9:30a-12:30p  
Rising 3rd-8th Graders. You know the stories, now you get to be the wizards of Hogwarts!  Harry, Hermione, Ron, and all of their friends and foes will come to life as you act out the stories of Harry Potter!  We will share some of our favorite scenes on Friday with our family and friends. 


Week of June 27 - July 1

Paw Patrol 1 (Half Day) - 9:00a-12:00p  
Rising K-2nd Graders. Get ready to save the day!  Chase, Skye, and Marshall need your help.  We’ll go on a different mission each day to rescue our friends, and we’ll share our adventures with our family and friends on Friday!


Mulan and the Warriors (Half Day) - 9:30a-12:30p  
Rising 3rd-5th Graders. Calling all warriors for an epic acting battle! Help Mulan fight the Hun army and learn some stage combat skills in the process. We will learn to act like we are fighting, sing some fun songs from Mulan and have a few great scenes to share with family and friends.


Week of July 11-15

Dinosaur Train (Half Day) - 9:00a-12:00p  8 spaces left
Ages 4-6. All aboard the Dinosaur Train! We’ll pretend to meet some great new dinosaurs, practice our best roars and of course sing and dance to some of the best songs from this fun show! Campers will love going on an imaginary train ride and adventure for their family and friends.


Marvel Cinematic Universe (Half Day) - 9:30a-12:30p  
Rising K-4th Graders. Spider-Man, Thor, and Captain America take the stage as we

explore the Marvel Cinematic Universe! In this week-long adventure, we will become our favorite superheroes coming together to save earth from the likes of Loki and Thanos. We’ll explore our imaginations and create new stories with these iconic characters.

Week of July 18-22

Spider Man (Half Day) - 9:30a-12:30p
Rising 2nd-5th Graders. Swing in on some cool webs as we pretend to be Spider Man! We’ll learn to act like Spider Man including some of his amazing spider-like moves. Campers will love acting out scenes from the movies and bringing this favorite to the stage.


Musical Theater Dance (Half Day) - 9:30a-12:30p  
Rising 3rd-8th Graders. This camp is all about those MOVES! Let’s practice some great dance combinations as we sharpen our skills to look great on stage. From the box step, jazz square to grapevine and more, we will learn to work as a group to make a song come to life. This camp is perfect for our students who love dance but might not have time for a regular class. 


Week of July 25 -29

Hotel Transylvania (Half Day) - 9:00a-12:00p Only 3 spaces left
Rising K-5th Graders. Will you be a monster or a human visiting Hotel Transylvania? Complete with zombie workers, our hotel will allow you to act out scenes as the hilarious Dracula, goofy Johnny or responsible Mavis.  We will explore acting with an accent, singing and dancing to some fun monster music, and of course keeping the mayhem to a minimum!  


Mary Poppins Meets Annie (Half Day) - 1:30p-4:30p
Rising 3rd-6th Graders. What would Mary Poppins do with all of those orphans in Annie? Let’s find out! We’ll imagine a world where the two might meet and work together. Campers will love singing and dancing to “A Spoonful of Sugar,” and “Hard Knock Life” while they develop characters and act out new and favorite scenes.


Week of August 1-5

My Little Pony (Half Day) - 9:00a-12:00p  
Age 4 - Rising 2nd Graders. Friendship is magic! Join us as we explore the magical world of Twilight Sparkle and all of her amazing friends. We will go on an acting adventure, break out into song and of course save the day in this fun and heartwarming camp. 


Hamilton Jr. (Half Day) - 9:30a-12:30p  
Rising 3rd-5th Graders. Do not throw away your shot!  Join us for a week of rapping, rhyming,  and acting as we bring to life the story of Alexander Hamilton.  On Friday, we’ll share pieces of the story with family and friends.


Week of August 8 - 12

Rising K-2nd Graders. Who will rub the magic lamp to make the genie appear? Campers will have a blast on the magic carpet, fighting the evil Jafar and creating a whole new world all their own! Join us to act, sing and dance some favorites from this fun and action packed musical!


All camps are in-person. Masks are highly recommended but not required. This is subject to change based on directives from the town, county, or state.
