Even if you're not going to watch the big game, you can still order take-out like you are! Here are some of our favorite places to grab pizza and wings, no special occasions are needed.
Pizza
Pizza Peel: Good luck picking one pizza! Our go-to is the Sorry for Partying Supreme if you like that combo of meat and veg, you can't go wrong here. Veg only eater? Go for the So Fresh So Clean, the combo of veggies, cool avocado, and finishing of lemon zest pretty much makes a dream pizza. Order ahead and you can pick up make your own pizza kits or one of their family meal deals. Pizza Peel offers pizza and wings combos as well as a really legit good gluten-free crust!
Benny Pennello's: A pizza so big the box barely fits through the door? Sign us up! If you miss that old-school slice that is so big you have to fold it to eat it, this is your place. Miss that slice you got on your way home from going out with friends? This is the slice you are missing! Perfect crust, just the right amount of chew, and a red sauce that is out of this world.
Luisa's Brick Oven Pizza: Luisa's is a Charlotte classic, the brick over pizza is some of the best in our area. Luisa's is no-frills seriously good pizza. Go for the Lusia, fresh tomatoes, ricotta and pesto is the perfect combination. Not a pizza fan, Luisa's offers some of the best pasta in the city. Kids eat 1/2 off on Tuesday nights.
Bisonte Pizza Co: There is only one type of pepperoni I like on pizza and it is in short supply in our area. Bisonte Pizza offers Buffalo-style pizza with the cup and char pepperonis, the best pepperoni ever if you ask me. Bisonte has a great crust, sauce with just enough spice to coax you into eating one more piece than you really should. Go for the Bisonte Classic, trust me you won't be disappointed! Bisonte offers some great subs and wings but that's another list!
Capishe: If pizza was a love language, Capishe would hold the key to my heart! With a location in South Park and Dilworth, Capishe has some of the best classic Italian-style pizza in the area. Order the Angelina, caramelized onions, mushrooms, truffle oil....you will thank me. We love their pizza but do not miss the meatballs and sauce, that is all, just don't miss them. Capishe also offers family meals as well, you can mix pizza and pasta or just pizzas or just pasta.
Wings:
Ty's Wings and Tings: This East Charlotte restaurant not only has some of the BEST wings in the area. This soul food/Caribbean food restaurant serves a full menu (don't miss the oxtails) but no matter what you order, choose one of the 7 flavors of wings.
d.d. Peckers: Not so much of a hidden secret anymore, DD Peckers is a Charlotte classic. The wings are crisp, saucy, and just about perfect. 25 different wing sauces to choose from, our go-to are usually the Hot Gold and Blazin sauces. No matter which one you go with they will be great!
Duckworths: MomMoo's sauce, that's what you need to know! The perfect blend for a saucy, sticky, spicy wing. Duckworth's offers other wing sauces but MomMoo's is the way to go. The bone-in wings have 8 different sauce options, and I know we are talking wings but they make a pretty killer cheesesteak at Duckworth's! My son gets the Steak and Egg Philly on a pretty regular basis!
Wing King: Our worth the drive pick! Wing King not only has great wings but I am pretty obsessed with their fried green beans. Wing King will let you pick flats or drums and good luck trying to choose from over 40 sauces.
Flip-a-Lo's: 12 sauces, family meals, party packs, and some of the best wings in the QC. Tucked into a little shopping center near Charlotte Catholic, Flip-a-Lo's is an easy stop to grab wings for the big game. The garlic parm and tangy BBQ are the ones we usually get. If you have teens, grab one of the party packs, it is enough to feed them and they will love the breadsticks that come with the meal.
Danny's Tega Cay is one of our hands-down favorites. Now, make sure you're ordering from the right Danny's because there are a few and they are not all equal. The Bang Bang Wings and the Margiano Pizza are our faves.
