The Trickiest of the Treats ~ What Candy to Limit this Halloween!

By Carolina Kids Dentistry October 26, 2020

Not allowing candy is just unrealistic and we know it. Halloween, while it may look different this year, is filled with sweat treats, but some candies are particularly tricky because they suction to the chewing surface of the tooth and can loose fillings and pull off sealants! They are also trickier to get out from between tightening teeth (for our older kids) and younger kids may not be as adept at brushing, yet!

Here's our list of candy to limit or avoid this season:

  • Laffy Taffy
  • Milk Duds
  • Sour Patch Kids / Gummy Bears
  • Tootsie Rolls
  • Heath Bar
  • Butterfinger
  • Dots
  • Starburst
  • Now & Later

Good news, though! Carolina Kids Dentistry Waxhaw and Mint Hill are offering your children money in exchange for their candy! From November 2-6, your kiddos can bring their candy into either office (Fridays are Waxhaw-only) and we will trade them $1 per pound of candy, up to $5 per child. All candy collected will be donated to our Troops overseas.

Carolina Kids Dentistry has two locations - one in Mint Hill and one in Waxhaw - and offers a free first visit for children before the age of 18 months. Let them check out your kiddo and make sure you are on-track and healthy.
