LOOKING FOR SUPPLEMENTAL LEARNING FOR YOUR KIDS?

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD ENROLL IN KUMON

By Kumon Wesley Chapel September 8, 2020

In a typical year, back-to-school season is highly anticipated for children and parents alike. The excitement behind supply shopping, seeing old friends and making new ones, and parents of course welcome the structure and routine for their kids! This year, however, there is a lot of excitement and uncertainty with back-to-school.  Whether children return to the classroom or participate in remote learning, one thing they will have in common is the need for a strong structure and routine of learning.

The great thing about Kumon is that it is meant to supplement your children’s school learning. If you are looking for more structured learning opportunities for your children, here are five reasons why you should enroll them in Kumon.

1. Kumon is Not Tutoring.

Kumon offers services beyond tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through an individualized instruction plan and carefully developed curriculum of math and reading worksheets. The Program is meant to supplement your children’s school curriculum, as opposed to replacing or replicating it.

2. Curriculum is Individualized for your Children.

In school, kids follow the curriculum that is prepared for the entire class, but in Kumon the supplemental curriculum is developed based on their individual needs, not their age or grade. We know that every child is unique, which is why we adjust the learning to their needs. Whether they are a little behind in school or ready to take on the challenge of harder work, Kumon caters to them.

3. Structured Daily Routine of Learning.

As a daily program, a key part of Kumon is consistency. Children typically dedicate 30 minutes per day, per subject. Two days a week they visit the local Kumon Center, or attend virtual classes, and the other five days a week, they complete the work at home. The dedicated learning time provides a sense of structure and routine for children and allows them to consistently develop the critical skills needed for a strong academic foundation.

4. Flexibility is Important.

Whether you are looking for in-class sessions, virtual learning, or a combination of the two, Kumon offers you flexibility.Depending on your location, many of our Kumon Centers are offering a combination of in-center and virtual classes. Kumon has implemented many precautions to keep students safe in the center, including cleaning all surfaces, scheduling students, practicing social distancing, checking temperatures, and wearing masks.

We understand that some parents are not ready for in-center classes. Therefore, many of our local Kumon Centers are offering virtual classes. Virtual classes offer flexibility and allow students to connect with Instructors and Center staff online. We encourage all parents to communicate with their local Kumon Center to learn more about the available options.

5. You are Not in it Alone.

There is no need for you to feel overwhelmed when it comes to your child’s education. Kumon is here to help. Your Local Kumon Instructor will provide you guidance and insight on your child’s progress within the program. And we offer a variety of resources to help you and your child navigate through the program. Visit our Resources Page on our website or contact your local center instructor for tips to help your student balance school and Kumon.

Whether you are ready to send your child to the center or want to move forward with virtual classes, the Kumon Method emphasizes self-learning and individualized instruction carefully planned by an Instructor to help your child reach their next academic level. Kumon can be an integral part of your child’s learning.
