Between remote learning and (mostly) postponed sports, keeping our kids busy and active this semester may pose a challenge for some families. It is so easy to just fall into the sofa and put on the TV or get sucked into technology. But one local business saw an opportunity to give back to the community by supporting our teens with movement, activity and fun!
CrossFit Doors of Daring in Waxhaw is providing free functional fitness classes for middle and high school students. Because many schools eliminated physical education this year, the gym wanted to make sure students were still remaining active.
Classes are held outside where participants remain socially distanced. Coaches leading the class all hold multiple health and fitness related certifications. Classes consist of bodyweight movements. Participants are asked to bring water and a mat or towel.
Thanks to Brady Dentistry, the first 75 students who come receive a free T-shirt. Food Lion has also donated bottled water.
When: 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
