Dinner Around the World ~3 Countries, 9 Recipes

By Rebecca Plaisance ~ Publisher, South Charlotte Macaroni Kid April 20, 2020

Trying to keep things different as the days drag on has become challenging. Looking for ways to keep the kids engaged and off electronics over spring break turned into a trip to 3 different countries for our family. Each one of our kids picked a country and prepared dinner for us, this turned into so much more than just making dinner. A few weeks ago we published a post with some suggestions of skills your teen could work on during the quarantine, and of course, cooking was on the list. As part of their dinner, our kids created decorations and provided us with dinner music from their country. The results? A trip to France where my daughter learned she is able to make bread from scratch, the fine art of souffle and crepe making. A jaunt to England where my son tackled a recipe that most experienced chefs have trouble with and finally a delightful trip to Jamaica and my oldest son not only created a dinner of unique flavors but also made a beautiful cake from scratch. Below are some pictures of our culinary trips. What you can't see in these pictures is the confidence, creativity, and family fun that was the unintentional result of this little experiment.
