FOAM PARTY!!!!!

Ending Every Week Like the '90s

Do you remember those amazing foam parties from Spring Break? I know I do - and when a friend posted photos of her kids playing with foam, the only reasonable thing to do was create our own foam party.

My kids, however, weren't super into wearing the foam. But they sure did love playing with it. So - its now our weekend "THING" and we're sharing with you an easy recipe and ways to have fun with foam!

Our blender broke, so we used a smaller whipping device - but you can also use a bow and whipping beater, a stand mixer or a blender. Know that this ratio is roughly 1:2, but due to the size of my "whipping device" I had to make small batches!

Recipe:

  • 4 TBS of dish soap (any kind is fine - no matter the color)
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • a few drops of gel food coloring

Put all three ingredients into the "whipping device" and whip it for about 3-4 minutes. We then poured ours out onto a baking tray - and this recipe made a full tray. I'd imagine that if you double or triple this recipe, it will make more!

Now, what do you do with the foam? Well - here are some fun ways to play with it!

  • Backyard / Driveway Foam Party - turn on some tunes, put the foam in bins and blow/throw it onto your kids while they jam out!
  • Baking Tray Fun - get some cars and small animals and let them play in the foam with those
  • Bathtub Fun - pour this foam into the bathtub instead of bubbles or even into a large tub/kiddie pool in your yard and let the kids "bathe" in it
  •  Experiments with colors - turn this into a science experiment for your kids: we had to play with the recipe a LOT because of the lack of a blender! So we made it a science experiment. Then, when it was finally made, the kids played with mixing colors and the "what ifs" (we add water, more color, etc) were endless!

Especially now that the weather is getting warmer almost, this is a fun way to end your week of pandemic schooling or just keep your kids busy for an hour or two. My kids (4 and 6) were enthralled for about 90 minutes!
