St. Patrick's Day with Kids - Where to Celebrate in Union County

From shamrocks to leprechauns, corned beef to green beer - the ways we celebrate St. Patrick’s day may have changed since your family has grown. Once upon a time, you might have joined in the World’s Largest Pub Crawl in uptown Charlotte - and now, you’re looking for family-friendly (re: less boozy) brunches or celebrations that are kid-friendly. 

Well, you’re in luck! Union County Macaroni Kid has struck gold with some kid-friendly (and even some adults-only) events and activities around town. 

2020 St. Patrick’s Day Parade
When: Saturday, March 14 | 11 AM - 2 PM
Where: Uptown Charlotte; parade route will march south down Tryon 
Who: Fun for the whole family! 
Notes: If you have a Golden Retriever, and would like to march with them, you can meet at College and Pfifer. 

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Mary O’Neill’s
When: Saturday, March 14 | 12P - 7P
Where: Mary O’Neills; 116 West North Main Street, Waxhaw
Who: Fun for the whole family! 
Notes: Vendors, music and activities will be available. Dogs will also be available for adoption via South Charlotte Dog Rescue

St. Patrick’s Dog & Puppy Adoption Event
When: Saturday, March 14 | 10:30AM - 12:30PM
Where: 
4th Corner Bakehouse & Coffee Co.
Who: Fun for the whole family!
Notes: This event is sponsored by Rover’s Rescue & Retreat

St. Paddy’s Day Celebration
When: Sunday, March 15 | 1PM - 6PM
Where: 
Rocky River Vineyards, 11685 Reed Mine Road; Midland NC
Who: Fun for the whole family!
Notes: Live bagpiping, celtic music and an adult clover hunt. Food trucks and desert trucks will have snacks and food available.

St. Patrick’s Day Party with Union County Public Library
When: Tuesday, March 17 | 1PM - 4PM
Where: Union West Regional Library - Indian Trail
Who: Fun for the whole family! 
Notes: Please bring an Irish snack or something green to share and hang out. Bingo will be played and you’ll learn to tie Irish knots!

St. Patrick’s Day Story Time and Craft
When: Tuesday, March 17 | 10:30A - 11:50A
Where:

Where: Grace O’Malley’s, 157 N. Trade Street; Matthews
Who: Family fun early - grab an Irish meal and beverage
Notes: This restaurant has a large bar and as the day progresses may not be suitable for young kids
