Take a Walk Outdoors Day is January 20th and what better way to start your weekend than to hit those trails after school and work with your family!?

We've rounded up the top 5 walking trails in our area so you can bookmark this and save it for any day you just need to get outside and enjoy the fresh air!

Cane Creek Park: This County Park in Waxhaw is so beautiful to walk around with plenty to explore; its suitable for all skill levels and you can easily turn any walk into a learning experience.

Carolina Thread Trail: With multiple entrance points, this trail can be easy or challenging - depending on where you start. But even the more challenging parts are enjoyable for big and little "kids" of all ages.

Crooked Creek Park Trails: with mostly paved trails, these are great for families - plus therer are conveniently-located bathrooms, shelters and playgrounds for "pit-stops".

Marshville Municipal Park: Marshville Municipal Park is home to (2) tennis courts, a skate park, (3) ball fields, playground equipment for children ages (2-12), as well as a brand new outdoor fitness park that we recently just built, and a 1.8-mile walking trail for a scenic walk as well as an upcoming Lake property that is currently under construction.

Mineral Springs Greenway: While this is technically part of the Carolina Thread Trail, this section is particularly family-friendly with lots of opportunities for exploring creeks as well as a trail that's ideal for walking.
